Chapter 1.01 is the 2nd chapter of Volume 1.

tl;dr[]

Erin moves restlessly around the room before tripping and falling asleep on the floor. She is starving, tired, and confused. Upon waking, she ventured outside to search for food, discovering an otherworldly landscape. Driven by hunger, she walked towards a distant grove of peculiar fruit-bearing trees while narrowly escaping an encounter with a giant crab. Still exhausted but determined, she reaches the trees but struggles to get the fruit. In frustration, she kicked the tree, causing one fruit to fall. She stared at it, anticipating something, but nothing happened.

The night before, a Dragon woke with a scream, startled by a young woman who bypassed his protective spells. Panicking, he accidentally exhaled a small flame and teleported to a new hideout. After two weeks of fortifying and searching for signs of pursuit without success, he considered the encounter accidental but remained cautious. As a silver lining, the disruption allowed him to tend to housekeep and make arrangements with a nearby city. Eventually, the exhausted Dragon fell asleep once more.

Synopsis[]

Erin's POV[]

Late at night, Erin moved restlessly around the room, tripping over a chair and dirtying her clothes. She lay on the floor, tired and hungry, and after a moment of frustration, she fell asleep. The next day, she awoke to bright daylight and decided to search for food. As she stepped outside, what she saw convinced her she was in another world. The vast sky, the enormous clouds, and the seemingly infinite plains fascinated her.

In the distance, she noticed what looked like buildings, giving her hope that she wasn't alone. She also spotted a small collection of peculiar trees, which appeared to have fruit. Driven by hunger, she walked toward the trees, barely escaping an encounter with a giant crab hiding beneath a tall rock.

Upon reaching the trees, she found they were thin with huge leaves and unusual yellow and blue fruits. Struggling to reach the blue fruit, she screamed in frustration and kicked the tree. A fruit fell to the ground, and she stared at it, waiting for something to happen but received no mysterious announcement.

Dragon's POV[]

The Dragon woke up with an embarrassing scream. A young woman entered his cave, bypassing all his protective spells. In shock, he exhaled a tiny tongue of flame that obviously hadn't been aimed at the young woman as he clumsily attempted to crawl to safety and activate his emergency teleportation spell. By the time he recovered, the girl was gone. Worried about being pursued, the Dragon relocated to a less convenient hideout.

He fortified his new cave for two weeks and looked for signs of pursuit, but there were none. Considering the possibility that the encounter was accidental, he didn't let his guard down. The one silver lining was that the intrusion had disrupted his sleep, allowing him to attend to some housekeeping. He had few social obligations to uphold, and the Dragon made arrangements with the nearest city and settled back. Exhausted, he dozed off by the end of the third day and slept once more.
