tl;dr[]
Rags defeats a small Human army and captured Welca escapes.
Synopsis[]
Welca and Kerrig talk amongst themselves, discuss goblins and escape. Kerrig fears and realises that goblins maybe aren’t monsters, but people.
Rags and her officers consider what to do with the almost violating goblins. Rags comes to decision to volunteer them for spearhead attacks to redeem themselves. Instead of talking with Kerrig as he requested, she puts Pyrite to the task and tries to learn Noears’ magic instead.
Pyrite talks with Kerrig and Welca, about goblins’ desires, about the Flooded Waters tribe’s deeds and their justification, and about how humans are very similar on those. He shows gathered precious metals and stones. Kerrig feels guilt about his goblin eradication past, in particular the children. Pyrite has questions about magic, seeks its sense and purpose, compares to goblin/shaman magic. The divide between humans and goblins rears its head repeatedly. Pyrite reveals he can harness magic in gemstones by chewing them. Kerrig asks Rags to talk with her and gets rebuffed.
Loot gets divvied up among the goblins, in particular the Rose Knights’ equipment.
The tribe leaves the swampland and scouts stumble over a small, 800 strong human army, chasing goblins. Kerrig tries to convince Rags not to attack, but fails. Rags’ tribe defeats the army, but Welca uses the confusion, with Kerrig’s urging, to escape while he defeats multiple hobs in single consecutive combat.
The goblins celebrate their triumph in silence. Rags turns her tribe towards Liscor, then practises greeting Erin.
