Chapter 5.46 is the forty-ninth chapter of Volume 5, and the 2nd chapter of Book 9, Tears of Liscor.

Synopsis[]

At first the Horns of Hammerad and others on the meadow simply enjoy the sun, a rare treat for Liscorians over the last weeks. But then the baseball game outside of Celum commences. Erin struggles with explaining the rules, having never had to explain them in a formal manner. As develops during the first bout of playing, as a previously only human game, the rules naturally didn't account for the abilities of other species, be they gnoll, drake, or garuda. Add to that the existence of Skills and magic and the base game quickly turned into a more magical variety.

Many others join the initial game, both from Celum and Liscor, which gradually turns the under-staffed single game into two or three separate games with full teams, umpires, even commentators. The goblins, fearing they were forgotten or worse, also get dragged into it. As the complexity and number of players grows, a final game is set up, the two teams deliberately selected from different groups so there's minimal previous animosity. The price to be won? Cake.

That final game, and the outing at large, are, as can be expected, a roaring success. Octavia makes a killing selling enhancement potions, Erin provides food, children of Celum play a children's game, and the break-out player of the game is Moore, actually hitting a ball, farther than anyone else, after having previously struggled with it.
