The Wandering Inn Wiki

Harpies are one of the Races that used to inhabit Izril. Unlike the usual Earth depiction of them in fantasy books, they are cultural, intelligent people and not monsters.[1]

They looked like Bagrhavens, but are smaller and less foul then them.[2] They have a humanoid torso and face, a bird’s massive wings for arms, and talons for legs.[3] Unlike Garuda, their winged arms don’t have hands.[2]

It is not known if it is from a special ability or not, but some of them have been shown to be twice a person size.[3]

Physical Qualities[]

Harpies could/would eat seeds,[4] meaning they weren't (entirely) carnivores.

Magical Qualities[]

Special Abilities[]

They are mostly only good in the air.[2]

Behavior and Culture[]

The Harpy-ruled Empire of Iltanus once controlled much of Izril as well as Terandria; but was eventually gone from the face of the world like most other Empires.[4]

They were thought to be "probably extinct", but there were hints that some might still be around.[5] This would later proved to be true, as it would be revealed that the remaining Harpies moved to Rhir, and joined the Demons for an unknown reason.[2] Currently they are suffering the most from Rhir corruption, as they have to fly through miasma clouds, far above the stationary cleansing zones.

While it is not yet confirmed, it is believed that one of the Deathless, specifically the Death of Wings, is actually a Harpy.[3]

  • Until Volume 7 the Harpies were considered an extincted race like the Jinn[6] and the Elves, as well as probably the Gnomes and the Halflings.
